Coronavirus update for our clients

UPDATE ON ASTRAZENECA VACCINE

On Thursday 8 April, the Federal Government announced that, based on a low (but increasing) risk of blood clotting problems for people under the age of 50, the Pfizer vaccine is now preferred for that group, rather than the AstraZeneca vaccine.

We draw your attention to the following:

  • Those of you who are over the age of 50 and who are eligible to receive a vaccination are encouraged to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine based on health advice.
  • As always it is your choice – eligibility currently includes clients and workers in group disability homes, workers providing in-home supports and people with significant disability, chronic illnesses and/or neurological conditions.
  • The current advice is that anyone who has already had their first AstraZeneca vaccination should still have their second injection as scheduled, unless they experienced serious side effects.
  • On Friday 9 April, the Federal Government announced that the Pfizer vaccine will be available for people with disability, carers and workers aged 18 to 50 who are eligible under phases 1a and 1b. For more information, go to https://www.health.gov.au/site...

HomeCare+ always prioritises the care and safety of our clients and staff and is closely monitoring the spread of COVID-19, particularly for the most vulnerable to whom we provide services. We are aligning our actions with advice from the Australian Government.

PQSA/HomeCare+ provide and maintain a working environment that is safe and free of risks to health, so far as is reasonably practicable. If a staff member is feeling unwell, they should stay home and away from the workplace.

Specific requirements are in place for people who have returned from a country or region that is at high or moderate risk for COVID-19, or think they may have been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19. Click here for the list of at-risk countries and isolation requirements.
